BIOGRAPHY

Described by Katniss Everdeen as stinking of industrial fumes, life in District 8 is dangerous and difficult. Fortunately, the Dyer's are slightly more privileged than most. Cecelia's mother had inherited a specialty shop and her father was a teacher, earning them a lifestyle that did not require any shifts within the factories.The population had slowly begun to decrease over the years, with high mortality rates in factories and long working hours children was never the first thought on anyone's mind. Cecelia had not been planned but she was cherished despite the odds.Her childhood was simple, she spent her mornings weaving lace, her days at school and evenings on the building fire escape completing homework and playing with other children in the building.But when she turned 17 she was reaped to be a tribute in the Hunger Games. District 8 hadn't seen a Victor in 30 years and those that came to see her in the Justice Building truly believed themselves to be saying goodbye for the final time.On the train to the Capitol, the districts eldest victor, Woof, takes Cecelia as his mentee insisting that Henley takes Jack, the thirteen old male tribute, claiming she is kinder than him. Though not unkind, Woof is blunt and standoffish, he is frank about her odds though oddly she finds it comforting throughout the week before she is sent into the arena.During training she sticks by Jack's side, taking him to all the survival stations and paying close attention herself. On the first day she realises how many of the tributes are Jack's age or below and throws up when back in her room. She scores a 6 after her private session.In her interview, she does her best to come across as a sweet, hardworking girl. Speaking of the hand eye coordination her family's work gives her and a memory that allows her to learn quickly.Upon rising through the tubes into the arena, she sees they are faced with a near pitch black system of caves. When the timer finishes, she races across the cornucopia to reach Jack and drag him away from the ensuing bloodbath.

As they flee, she steals a backpack from a dying tribute crawling away from the centre and her partner is hit by an arrow but Cecelia still manages to drag him down the nearest tunnel.He survives the next two days as they remain hidden in a small off shoot cave, but his condition worsens as her slowly dies of infection. When she can no longer stand to see him suffer, she ventures out finding some poisonous plants she recognises from training and makes a tea. Jack goes in his sleep. Cecelia takes a strip of his arena uniform and ties it around her wrist. She does the same with the uniform of the following three tributes she kills in the rest of the games.After three weeks she stumbles across the female tribute from 2 who is being hunted by the rest of the career pack and they form an unlikely partnership for the remainder of the games.It continues for another week, coming down to a final four fight as the two sets of allies are led into the centre of the labyrinth of tunnels by bull mutts. Very few are more surprised than Cecelia when she is announced the victor.When she returns to the district, she has never seen it so full of life and the parties seem to continue forever. Though, she now lives in a house not an appartment, people who used to say hi in the street no longer meet her eye and she sees the faces of those she killed everywhere she turns she does her best to return her life to normal.At the end of her victory tour, she is invited to a private meeting with President Snow. Starting with the usual pleasantries he eventually levels with her about her districts declining population and murmurings of rebellion then how every victor has a role to play to keep the peace. He encourages her to settle down, start a family, show the world and her district that there is hope.She proposes to her boyfriend, Tanner, in private and when he accepts levels with him about what Snow told her. Saying, she wants him to be the one she builds a life with but doesn't want to force the notoriety on him. He accepts again and they begin to plan their public proposal.Their proposal, wedding and every milestone of their three children for the next sixteen years happen surrounded by capitol film crews and stylists.
